I Want To Balance My Wheels

Comments:  What is the best way to balance RC car tires?  Do you have to spend money on one of those stupid stands and what is the best material for balancing them?  I've been told to use Hot Glue or lead golf weights.  What works best?  I get my wheels wet a lot.

Response: To balance your wheels properly you need to buy a good balancer.  I've found the Top Flite Magnetic balancer to work the best.  I don't like to use a Hot Glue gun to balance wheels because the glue seems to come off very easily.

When balancing rubber tires I recommend that you use a thin lead tape available from a hardware store.  Cut small pieces and tape them to the inside of the rim.   It usually does not take very much to be effective.  Make sure you clean the inside of the rim before applying the tape (use rubbing alcohol and a rag).

When balancing foam tires, use a few straight pins between the foam tire and the rim to balance.  Make sure you put them on the inside of the tire to ensure that they won't bend during a crash.
